Project of Seibersdorf Labor GmbH on shortlist of “RIZ competition for ideas 2014”

An NFC-powered sensor and smartphone application could soon warn sun worshippers when it’s time to find some shade.

The project was developed by Seibersdorf Labor GmbH in cooperation with AIT. The smart UV sensor must be held with the photodiode’s front toward the sun. When the device is brought close to the smartphone, the application launches automatically and displays the maximum time the user may stay in the sun without the risk of sunburn.

129 projects were submitted to RIZ. Our project was selected for the shortlist. The winner will be announced on 10th December 2014.
