Field Nose EMF Measuring Systems
What is Field Nose?
It is an automatic EMF measuring system for isotropic frequency selective measuring and monitoring. The measuring software “NOSE” is a detailed analysing and reporting tool.
Why do we need Field Nose?
The effects of electromagnetic fields (EMF) are widely discussed in the public. The rapid increase of mobile radio networks is one of the reasons for concern. To check if the safety guidelines for the protection of human beings from radio frequency exposure are preserved an accurate and objective measurement method is needed.
What are the measurement results?
The Field Nose report shows the field strength over the measurement period in different interpretations. One graphic presents all interesting data:
- the measurement results,
- the limit values and
- the provider frequencies.
Therefore the identification of a provider exceeding the limit is very easy.
Who needs Field Nose?
Telecom providers, measuring institutes, universities, health administration offices, municipalities;
The benefits of FIELD NOSE system:
- Accurate EMF measurements
- Frequency selective process
- Monitoring of electromagnetic fields
- Statistical evaluation and
- Cost effective
Monitoring, measurements and statistical evaluation
With FIELD NOSE, electromagnetic fields caused by radio communication devices (GSM, CDMA, UMTS, DECT, Bluetooth or W-LAN) or by radio and TV broadcasting stations can be measured and the origin identified. It offers accurate measurements, monitoring applications and statistical evaluation of EM fields (e.g. in densely populated areas, in buildings and around transmitting stations).
Software NOSE – more than an measuring software:
NOSE software has been specially designed for fully automatic measurements and visualisation. With the aid of this software, critical locations such as schools and hospitals can be continuously monitored over an extended period of time. In case the fields exceed a predefined threshold, several actions can be triggered, including a detailed spectral investigation, storing of spectrum and alarm generation via SMS or E-mail.
How FIELD NOSE smells the spectrum
An antenna with a well-defined dipole like radiation pattern is used to measure the electric field strength. The antenna is positioned sequentially in three orthogonal orientations by an automatic rotator. The software calculates the equivalent isotropic field strength or power flux density from these three measured values according to the Add3D algorithm.
This guarantees optimum isotropic characteristics. The isotropic radiation pattern of the Add3D concept notably simplifies measurements since they need not be carried out with different polarisation and in different directions for each frequency. The antenna offers considerably higher sensitivity and a wider dynamic range than active, broadband field strength sensors. Consequently, high field strengths in the vicinity of emitters as well as low field strengths, which occur further away from the field-strength source, are measured reliably and accurately.
